Laukataguse Puhkeküla

Laukataguse Holiday Village

Laukataguse Holiday Village is situated in Kehtna Parish of Rapla County, about 60 km from Tallinn. Arriving by Viljandi Road, turn to Juuru at the Kose-Purila crossroad and drive through Juuru, where the Mahtra battlefield is, and through the historical Ingliste Village that recently celebrated its 555th anniversary. The holiday village is situated in Lau Village. Its history dates back to 1241, when it was first mentioned as Laucataux in the Danish Census Book. This is where the name of Laukataguse Village came from.

Like its name suggests, the primary aim of the holiday village is to offer holiday activities and recreational possibilities. Kõnnumaa Landscape Reserve is just about 1 kilometre away from the complex. In addition to numerous hiking trails with different levels of difficulty, you can find the Loosalu bog lake there, which is the largest body of water in the Estonian bogs. The well-known Keava and Paluküla hills, excellent for hiking on foot or bicycling, offer spectacular views of nature. You can cleanse your mind and body in a smoke sauna after hiking and enjoying the stillness and the beauty of nature.

HOLIDAY IN ESTONIA

Hiking trails lead you from Laukataguse to Kõnnumaa Landscape Reserve, where you can hike in the bogs of Palasi, Keava, and Loosalu. Besides the Keava Hills that the locals know as the Mäi Forest, the Hiiemägi and the Reevimägi Hills of Paluküla can also be found there. The Linnusemägi Hill, which dates back to the year 1054, is situated in the Keava Hills.

You can go fishing when you come to Laukataguse—both carp and trout inhabit the ponds. Sportier recreational activities include bicycling or volleyball.

AUTHENTIC SMOKE SAUNA

The oldest building of the holiday village is a smoke sauna with basswood walls and a green roof. It is right next to the pond, and steaming is extra enjoyable there. There is no electricity in the sauna, and the only way to get cleaned up is to pour water from a bucket or to jump into the pond. However, after steaming five times in a row, there is no need to wash—you will be clean from the inside to the outside. It is really pleasant to enjoy the sunset sitting in front of the sauna or to jump into an ice-hole in the pond in wintertime. As the saying goes, you have never felt the real sauna steam if you have not tried a smoke sauna.

SUMMER EVENTS

We organize various events for both larger and smaller parties. Both summertime guests and birthday parties are welcome. For a larger group, we provide a guide to go to the hiking trails. You can go horseback riding or horse carting in the neighbouring farmstead. In winter, we offer snowmobile trips and relaxation in the sauna. In co-operation with the local hunting club, we can organize plate shooting in a firing range. Party tents of different sizes are at your disposal for larger events.
